Mary MacKillop Day

On the 1st November our school will be celebrating the canonisation of Mary MacKillop in many ways. Here are some dot points of our planning thus far. (If you have any extra ideas please feel free to add them.)

  • Students and staff will be dressing up in clothing appropriate to the time that Mary MacKillop lived.
  • Students will rotate through a series of learning experiences to deepen their understanding of Mary MacKillop
  • Students will actively participate in a liturgy. ( We are thinking of using the contemporary song ‘My Own Two Hands’ by Jack Johnson as part of a reflection. You can purchase this song from itunes.)
  • Students will take part in an Australiana lunch.  They will be served possum pies (meat pies), roo rolls (sausage on a roll) and a lamington.
  • There will also be a ‘design a t-shirt’ competition to celebrate the canonisation.
